What a privilege God has given to His disciples (those who follow Jesus' teachings). 1 John 5:14 tells us that if we pray according to the will of God, then we know that God hears us! How cool is that! But wait, it gets better.
Verse 15 goes on to say that if we know God hears us then we can be assured that God will answer the prayers that we pray. What an awesome promise.
But the key is that we have to pray according to God's will. That means our prayers have to be in agreement with what God's Word (the Bible) teaches us. It doesn't matter how much we want it, desire it or think we need it. If our prayer doesn't agree with God's Word then we cannot be assured that God will answer the prayer--no matter how earnestly we pray.
Our fellowship of believers takes prayer for our Community seriously. It is God's mandate for every believer to reach their community with the love of Jesus (see Matthew 28:18-20). It is for this reason that GSCC has begun a prayer campaign for our Community. Our goal is to personally touch every home in the community personally. We plan to walk or drive each street in the community and pray specifically for each home, each family and each individual that resides there. Upon completion of that prayer we will simply leave a little card that lets them know they were prayed for.
